Camp Director
Steve Garrity started this unique camp in 1994 and has been the camp organizer and director since the inception. Steve is a graduate of Aloha High School and has a business degree from the (Harvard of the North) University of Alaska in Anchorage. He attended Idaho State University for 3 years, where he played basketball and received All Big Sky honors before transferring to the University of Alaska. There, he earned his degree and finished up his collegiate basketball career. Upon graduation, he enjoyed a short professional basketball career with stints in Europe and the US.
Steve is married twenty-two years to Lisa and they have 4 children together: Hayes, Hannah, Hailey, and Halle. He is self-employed and the owner of Waterhouse Motors, a full service auto dealership www.waterhousemotors.net. He is also the basketball director at Sunset Athletic Club where he runs the basketball academy training athletes of all ages. He is the coach of Team Oregon an AAU basketball program for college bound athletes, oregonaau.blogspot.com
Assistant Camp Director
Kip Hayden first became involved with Hoop Camp when he was 13 years old, using the camp as his Eagle Scout project by raising funds, prizes, and coordinating volunteer coaches. Each year since, he has become more involved with the planning, organizing, and running of Hoop Camp. He grew up in Portland, attending Westview High School and then studied at BYU-Idaho before transferring to Utah State University.
Kip currently coaches High School Boys Basketball in Hillsboro and trains athletes as a Strength, SPARQ, and Basketball Skills Trainer for EForce Sport. He also works as a Special Education Assistant (SEA3) in the Hillsboro School District and is Oregon Intervention Systems (OIS) certified.
